About The Other Things Podcast

Jonathan and David are vowed religious in the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). For many years we have both been avid podcast listers, and realized that being a by-stander was good, but that we had a lot to say too! We started The Other Things in the tradition of having two friends talking about whatever matters to them. The hope of the show is that through our conversation the listener is encouraged to think for themselves, be motivated, inspired, and maybe moved to consider things from a different perspective. This style of conversation is not new, it is part and parcel of our charism as Jesuits. For us, spiritual conversation is a pathway to knowing God's will. It is our hope that our conversations open up new path ways for you, too.

If you're curious, the name of the show comes from the "Principle and Foundation" of St. Ignatius's Spiritual Exercises. There, Ignatius expresses clearly that the human person is created to praise, reverence and serve God. Everything else in the world (i.e., all of the other things) are there for us to assist us in this great task of giving glory to God. As such, we hope in this show to talk about everything, and hopefully find how they open pathways to the praise and reverence of God.
